Moving Voices

Body Heart and Mind

with Caroline Carey and introducing Hazel Newton

You are invited to a one-day workshop to explore movement and voice in an atmosphere of kindness.

St. Aloysious School, Sharman Crawford Street, Cork

Caroline will be offering movement meditations to ground our bodies and prepare our voices for the chants and songs that Hazel will be teaching and sharing with us. We’ll cover a wide variety of practices such as using elemental mantras to cleanse the chakras, learning how to use the body and voice to safely release emotion and exploring how our thoughts affect our voices.

Caroline holds a liberating and joyful dance space. She is an accredited 5Rhythms teacher since 2000, and is now an apprentice teacher to the School of Movement Medicine where she is a coach for the students and a 'pathfinder' for the teaching of this work. She has been working and teaching in the creative and healing arts since 1986 and has written her first book on her life's work.

Hazel has been singing and dancing all her life. A member of many different choirs over the last few decades, she has sung in both the Cork and Vienna choral festivals and has recently begun training as a soloist with Susie Self. She has practiced yoga since her early twenties and has studied Nada Yoga and Kirten (yoga of sound and devotional chanting) with Swami Satwamurti Saraswatti of the Satyananda School of Yoga. Having worked extensively with Ya’Acov and Susannah Darling Khan she has embarked on their School of Movement Medicine apprenticeship programme.

A note of gratitude to Hazel and Caroline for the recent moving voices workshop. I found the intimacy of the small group very appropriate for encouraging me to break thro’ the fear barrier of expressing and exploring “my” voice , in a n environment of “acceptance of what is”. The pace of the day provided the space for way!!
I look forward to your next adventure.
David
